Artful Home Decor for puzzling personalities
AiMEiRi creates origami-inspired home decor items such as pillowcases, curtain pillows, and fabric storage containers to convey the elegance and beauty that can manifest from the manipulation of mathematics and systematic thinking. Our work represents the dream of a special needs child who felt she had to choose between being a systematic thinker and a creative. This is the dream where both style and science collide. This is where she feels welcomed, her home.
Behind the name
“AiMEiRi” (eye-may-ree) is derived from my Chinese name. “Mei mei” is Chinese for “little sister.” My brother, my close friends, and even my parents refer to me as “mei mei” even today. Now that I’m older, I don’t think “mei mei” is an appropriate name for me, especially in business.
- “Ai” is Chinese for “love.”
- “Ai mei” is Chinese for “ambiguous” or “love of beauty”.
- “Ri” is a suffix for Japanese names such as “Airi.”
I am AiMEiRi, a person who loves ambiguously due to my enigmatic nature in social situations.
