What once stood in the light. What once stood wrapped in brights. As colors fade, the princess decays.

The Fading Princess is a triptych paper origami artwork measuring 36″x54″. It features abstract geometric elements in a gradient color scheme dominated by shades of pink, gray, and off-white. The lateral panels display diagonal leaf-like patterns filled with light gray, set against a background transitioning from dark gray at the bottom, through pink hues, to a lighter gray at the top. These panels represent explosions of despair and nothingness, an attack from the spectrum grays in a landscape of pinks being eaten by the contagious neutrals.

The central panel is characterized by a vertical arrangement of interlocking geometric shapes, symbolizing the princess’s tower of hopes and dreams. This panel transitions from dark maroon at the top, through various shades of pink, to a lighter pink at the bottom, illustrating her resolve standing strong through the noise.

The paper origami artwork employs a harmonious blend of patterns and color transitions across the three panels. Each panel integrates origami modules made of painted fine art paper attached to an abstract painted wood panel. The piece conveys the concept of a child’s fading hopes and dreams as she grows up, with the tower standing as a beacon amidst the surrounding chaos.
